Privacy
FleetDog helps you draft and keep track of your own complaints. We do not sell your information.
What we store
When you submit the fact sheet, we save:
- Your name, email, and phone number if you give one
- Your mailing address
- Vehicle facts you enter: VIN, year, make and model, engine, mileage, build date, purchase notes, shop, repair order number, diagnosis, trouble codes, and repair quote
- What happened and how it affected you, in your words
- Whether you already contacted Ford or Lincoln, and any case number you enter
- The complaint letters we draft, and edits you save
- Reference numbers you save when you mark a complaint filed
- Photos or PDFs you choose to upload, such as a letter you already sent
Your case is stored in our database. Anyone with your case link can open it. The link is emailed to you. This browser also remembers the link so the menu can bring you back.
What we send elsewhere
- Drafting sends your name, address, email, and phone, along with the vehicle facts and words you entered, to Anthropic's Claude API so it can write the letters. A photo of your door-jamb label, if you use the vehicle check, is sent to that same API to read the VIN and date. We do not store that photo.
- A VIN you check is sent to NHTSA's public VIN decoder.
- Your address is sent to the U.S. Census geocoder so we can look up your members of Congress.
- Email goes out through Resend: your case link, resume links, and a letter only if you ask FleetDog to send one. A letter FleetDog sends comes from complaints@fleetdog.com, with replies set to your email.
Organizer dashboard
The organizer can open a private dashboard that shows each case's name, state, and filing progress. It is not linked from the site.
What we don't do
We don't sell this information, and the site doesn't run ads. If you use the optional link to chip in for server costs, the payment page is Stripe's. This site does not receive your card number.
As you type, an unsaved draft is kept in this browser tab. A refresh does not put it back on its own. The form asks before restoring it.
Deleting your information
There is no delete button in the app. Email complaints@fleetdog.com from the address on the case and ask us to delete it. Include the case link if you still have it.
